In 2020 Florida Power & Light migrated from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4 HANA as its core ERP Financial platform, centralizing finance and integrated supply chain processing. The SAP S/4 HANA implementation at Florida Power & Light focused on combining financial consolidation with embedded warehouse management and supply chain modules to support utility operations across finance, procurement, inventory and manufacturing adjacent functions.
Implementation scope centered on SAP Extended Warehouse Management EWM implemented in the S/4 HANA landscape alongside Production Planning PP and Quality Management QM, with Inventory Management IM and Sales and Distribution SD aligned to procurement and 3PL logistics flows. Configuration work included EWM features such as unit management, storage unit management, RF mobile transactions, RF framework configuration for barcode scanners and label printing, and PPF frameworks for process automation. The program included RICEFW development using ABAP enhancements, BADIs, BAPIs and custom reports, and delivery of SAP Fiori and UI5 based warehouse applications for end users.
Integration work explicitly tied EWM and warehouse processes to core business functions including Manufacturing, QM, IM, Procure to Pay and Finance, and extended to 3PL communications via EDI and IDoc interfaces and to MES systems where required. The project executed data migration activities and supported structured testing phases including System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing, with defined handoffs for cutover and user training focused on EWM operational processes and transaction flows.
Governance and runbook activities were managed through Jira based project plans and daily Scrum cadences, with Principal IT Architect responsibilities covering FSD and TSD preparation, SIT and UAT support, and ongoing troubleshooting and queue monitoring. Post go live support and operational issue resolution were coordinated with the Application Managed Services provider, and the implementation emphasized orchestration of workflows, technical specs for RICEFW items, and targeted end user training to embed new processes within financial and warehouse operations.

In 2015 Florida Power & Light implemented IBM Maximo as an Enterprise Asset Management solution to support preventive and emergency maintenance for transmission lines, power generation units, and windmills across its Florida service territory. The deployment uses IBM Maximo Asset Management v7.5 and is positioned to manage asset lifecycle and work management for an organization serving roughly 4.8 million accounts and 10 million people.
The implementation centered on Work Management, Service, Purchasing, and Reporting functional teams, with enhancements developed to align Maximo workflows to FPL business processes. Common Enterprise Asset Management capabilities were configured, including preventive maintenance scheduling, work order processing, asset records and hierarchies, and role-based access to support operations, performance, testing, cost and training requirements.
Integration scope explicitly included defined integration points between IBM Maximo and SAP for invoicing data, with continuous monitoring of failed messages, root cause identification, break fix and reprocessing workflows. Architectural evaluation and prototype development were executed with FPL Technical Architects and delivery teams to validate feasibility across people, hardware, software and policy components, and to prove integration viability.
Governance and delivery followed Agile practices where business requirements were converted into JIRA issues, sprints were planned with prioritized effort estimates and burndowns, and Daily Standups coordinated onshore and offshore teams. The Scrum Master role led sprint reviews and retrospectives, defined offshore team responsibilities, and enforced monthly quality audits and project metric reporting in the Mantra tool to sustain operational support and continuous improvement.
