Heathrow Technographics, Software Purchases, AI and Digital Transformation Initiatives
Discover the latest software purchases and digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by Heathrow and its business and technology executives. Each quarter our research team identifies on-prem and cloud applications that are being used by the 90000 Heathrow employees from the public (Press Releases, Customer References, Testimonials, Case Studies and Success Stories) and proprietary sources.
During our research, we have identified that Heathrow has purchased the following applications: Oracle Cloud ERP for ERP Financial in 2019, Oracle Cloud HCM Benefits for Benefits Administration in 2019, IBS iAirport for Airport Management in 2005 and the related IT decision-makers and key stakeholders.
Our database provides customer insight and contextual information on which enterprise applications and software systems Heathrow is running and its propensity to invest more and deepen its relationship with Oracle , ACOM Solutions , Safe365 or identify new suppliers as part of their overall Digital and IT transformation projects to stay competitive, fend off threats from disruptive forces, or comply with internal mandates to improve overall enterprise efficiency.
We have been analyzing Heathrow revenues, which have grown to $4.76 billion in 2024, plus its IT budget and roadmap, cloud software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions for Heathrow intention to invest in emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database or in cloud-based ERP, HCM, CRM, EPM, Procurement or Treasury applications.

| Oracle | Oracle E-Business Suite | Oracle Cloud ERP | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019 Heathrow launched Project Magenta to replace Oracle E-Business Suite and standardize its back office, selecting Oracle Cloud ERP as the ERP Financial platform alongside Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM to support recovery and future expansion. The program targeted finance and HR harmonization to free colleagues to focus on passenger service and to provide a modern foundation for planned airport growth.
The implementation centered on core finance and procurement capabilities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, and Oracle Billing and Revenue Management to manage multi million pound B2B airline billing and new usage based billing models. Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM was implemented in tandem to standardize hiring, performance and compensation workflows, and the project emphasized a vanilla configuration with minimal customizations to promote maintainability and automation of repetitive tasks.
Deployment used a cloud native Oracle Fusion architecture, with Oracle Integration Cloud providing the integration layer that unites Oracle Cloud ERP with Heathrow's wider digital estate and existing operational systems. This architecture established a unified cloud application platform and shared data model between ERP Financial and HCM modules, enabling automated end to end workflows across hiring, procurement, billing and revenue processes.
Governance and rollout shifted during the pandemic, with the program paused and later resumed under a virtual delivery model that formed a single Magenta team composed of Heathrow, Oracle and Capgemini. Remote collaboration and restructured decision making increased autonomy, accelerated task delivery, and led to an October 2021 go live for Oracle Cloud ERP supported by iterative virtual project management.
Following implementation Heathrow achieved a standardized set of HR and Finance processes, a consistent user experience, and broader access to accurate real time data for non operational teams and business stakeholders. Oracle Cloud ERP together with Oracle Billing and Revenue Management now supports B2B revenue flows with airlines, streamlines procurement and accounting, and positions the airport to scale operations as passenger traffic recovers.

| Oracle | Oracle E-Business Suite Benefits | Oracle Cloud HCM Benefits | Benefits Administration | HCM | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019, Heathrow implemented Oracle Cloud HCM Benefits. The deployment replaced Oracle E-Business Suite Benefits and positioned Oracle Cloud HCM Benefits as the airport's Benefits Administration platform to support payroll, benefits, pension, and compensation business functions.
Implementation focused on configuring core benefits administration capabilities, establishing payroll interfacing and pension process support, and executing end-to-end testing and deployment activities. Oracle Cloud HCM Benefits was configured to validate enrollment workflows, eligibility rules, and compensation adjustment processes consistent with standard Benefits Administration functionality.
Operational coverage included Heathrow HR, payroll, and pensions teams, with subject matter experts bridging project activity and business as usual operations. Integrations emphasized connecting payroll and pension processes to the Oracle Cloud HCM Benefits environment while transitioning BAU teams to the new software and streamlined ways of working.
Governance and rollout were driven by SME ownership for testing, deployment, and handover, with subject matter expert support provided from September 2019 to March 2022 to coordinate testing sign-off and process standardization between project and HR operations.

In 2005, Heathrow implemented IBS iAirport to provide Airport Management capabilities supporting airport operations and real time flight and resource tracking. The deployment targeted AODB and A-CDM aligned functionality delivered through IBS product modules and subsequent Avient product deliveries, positioning IBS iAirport as the operational control backbone for turnaround visibility.
Module configuration emphasized core AODB services, A-CDM workflows, turnaround management, flight status consolidation, and resource tracking for gates and ground handling. Functional capabilities included scheduled flight data management, turnaround event orchestration, operational control desk workflows, and resource assignment logic consistent with Airport Management best practices.
The implementation supported Heathrow operational control and turnaround management across terminals and airside operations, reinforcing flight and resource tracking used by operations and ground handling teams. IBS via its Avient acquisition and historical contracts with BAA provided the product deliveries that enabled these modules, and rollout activities focused on aligning operational procedures and A-CDM workflows with the new IBS iAirport system.
