The implementation leveraged Bentley ADINA’s nonlinear FSI capabilities, transient FSI solvers, coupled structural dynamics and computational fluid dynamics functionality to capture time-dependent interactions between flow and structure. Model workstreams included high-fidelity meshing, transient time-stepping, boundary condition definition for turbine flow and pressure loads, and nonlinear material and contact formulation consistent with Finite Element Analysis practice. Operational scope was confined to the university research group within the College of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering in Nanjing, supporting civil and hydropower engineering research and simulation-driven design validation. Governance was researcher-led with iterative simulation cycles, and outputs were used to improve understanding of transient FSI behaviour and to inform more resilient structural designs.
