In 2018, Kotahi implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its ERP Financial system with Datacom to establish a modern financial management platform for its export logistics operations in New Zealand. Kotahi is a pooled container logistics business serving over 40 exporters and importers, and the implementation was part of a broader digital strategy to support high volume shipment tracking and freight supply and demand optimization.
The Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations deployment focused on core ERP Financial capabilities, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, and automated financial workflows to support billing and cost allocation across pooled shipments. Configuration emphasized integration with planning and forecasting processes, and the solution was configured to support financial controls, reporting and automation consistent with an ERP Financial deployment for a mid market transportation operator.
Datacom led a cloud migration to Microsoft Azure concurrently with the Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations rollout, moving Kotahi's applications to Azure within months. Azure was used to extend Kotahi's existing applications and to provide mobile access to online order and tracking services, and the platform enabled rapid provisioning of development, testing and production environments to accelerate application delivery and operational testing.
The migration program was executed with careful rollout governance and a phased migration plan developed by Datacom, completed with virtually zero impact on productivity, uptime or the integrity of Kotahi's data and services. As implemented, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations and the Azure platform together support Kotahi's finance, logistics planning and customer-facing tracking capabilities, aligning financial operations with the companys export-focused supply chain requirements.

In 2016, Kotahi implemented Microsoft Azure Machine Learning to automate its demand-forecasting process and support more effective logistical decisions. The project aimed to free reporting staff to perform more in-depth analysis of existing data while embedding predictive analytics into planning workflows. Kotahi implemented Microsoft Azure Machine Learning as the core computation and model operationalization layer for this initiative.
Kotahi’s approach leveraged the Microsoft Cortana Intelligence Suite foundation and existing Exceed Analytics for Microsoft Dynamics 365 from UXC Eclipse, which provided prebuilt Power BI models, reports, and dashboards for financial reporting. The deployment centered on ML and Data Science Platforms capabilities, including model training and scoring, feature engineering and batch scoring pipelines, and operationalized endpoints for integration with reporting dashboards. Microsoft Azure Machine Learning was used to author and deploy predictive models that feed into Power BI visualizations and scheduling logic used by logistics teams.
DXC Eclipse served as the systems integrator for the rollout, aligning Azure Machine Learning model artifacts with Kotahi’s Dynamics 365-based financial reporting and Power BI consumption layer. Operational scope focused on reporting and logistics functions within Kotahi in New Zealand, with governance workstreams to shift reporting staff workflows from manual forecasting to model-backed analysis. The implementation narrative emphasizes configuration of prebuilt analytics assets, integration with existing Exceed Analytics outputs, and the institutionalization of demand-forecasting models using Microsoft Azure Machine Learning.
