SAP Legacy SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial ERP n/a 2009 2010
In 2009, KWS Saat implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial backbone to support corporate accounting and controlling processes. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 environment became the shared system used to orchestrate a later commercial merger of KWS MAIS GmbH into KWS SAAT SE and to centralize financial posting and controlling area structures across the group. The merger project began with an it.transform workshop run by itelligence to clarify objectives and constraints, followed by an it.transform analysis that documented requirements, in-house developments, hard-coded values and relevant customizing. SNP Business Process Analysis was used to map all processes based on documents booked in the SAP ERP, and those process artifacts were imported into test management in SAP Solution Manager to drive structured test execution and cutover planning. Operational scope explicitly included the conversion of accounting areas and controlling areas, a coordinated data transition on the connected HCM system, an upgrade of SAP CRM and additional SAP ERP rollouts that had interdependencies with the merger. Integrations referenced in the program included the connected HCM landscape and SAP CRM, while SAP Solution Manager was used for test governance and SNP tools supported the business process analysis. Governance and rollout were executed to minimize impact on concurrent projects, with a stated objective to automate tasks and complete technical adjustments within the constrained fiscal year window. The commercial merger was registered on 2 November 2015 and the accounting area was altered to KWS SAAT SE, enabling technical adjustments without downtime and a planned later downtime for the technical unification of controlling and accounting areas. After cutover the system presented as KWS SAAT SE at the start of the fiscal year, indicating a seamless consolidation from the system perspective.
