In 2013, Team Lewis implemented SAP Business One as their ERP Financial system to centralize core finance operations across APAC and European entities. The implementation was led from the CFO office with a finance team of 13 based at LEWIS Global HQ in London, and governance emphasized centralized control of billing, credit control, accounts payable, payroll, monthly management accounts and annual financial account preparation across the group.
SAP Business One was configured to support the functional workflows for billing, credit control and accounts payable, and to produce monthly management accounts and balance sheet control for the APAC and European LEWIS entities. The system was also used to manage payroll interfaces and to store finance process knowledge in the in-house finance knowledgebase, reflecting typical ERP Financial capabilities for general ledger, subledger and period close orchestration.
The SAP Business One deployment was integrated with the existing timesheet and expenses systems and with the HSBCnet online banking tool, enabling treasury operations to be coordinated from the finance platform. Treasury management activities administered through SAP Business One and complementary tools included cash flow forecasting, management of loan repayments and control over 40 bank accounts denominated in 12 currencies, demonstrating multi-currency and multi-entity operational coverage.
Operational governance centered on the finance system administrator role and CFO oversight, with the finance systems owner responsible for balance sheet integrity across regions. The finance lead also provided consulting and integration support for the finance consolidation of four acquired companies in the USA, Asia and the UK, using SAP Business One as the primary ERP Financial backbone for those activities.
