| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2024 | 2025 |
In 2024 MAPAL implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform, replacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0 for core finance and controlling functions. The initiative targeted harmonization of FI/CO processes across the finance organization, with operational coverage tied to the Aalen and Pforzheim locations and planned rollouts at home and abroad.
SAP S/4 HANA was configured to deliver standard FI/CO capabilities including financial accounting, controlling, payroll-related ledger integration and tax reporting, following a template approach to standardize chart of accounts and period end procedures. Configuration and development work emphasized customizing and optimizing SAP solutions, with ABAP based extensions and SAPscript referenced as part of technical adaptation where required.
The migration from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 included coordinated quality assurance and testing of developed and implemented components, formal change management and defined post-go-live support responsibilities. Integrations were scoped to preserve payroll workflows and align financial postings with the broader value chain, and the program included selection and coordination of external service providers for specialized workstreams.
Governance centered on a SAP Application Manager FI/CO role responsible for analysis of accounting requirements, design of template solutions, coordination of testing and participation in rollout projects. That role also managed change control, quality assurance and ongoing enhancement of finance and controlling processes within SAP S/4 HANA.
