In 2015, Matthews International implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to establish a centralized ERP Financial foundation across MATW Corporate and Matthews International, Costa Rica S.R.L. SAP ERP ECC 6.0 was configured to support core financial workflows and to serve as the primary system for corporate finance and operations reporting within the MATW Corporate line of business.
The implementation emphasized ERP Financial modules including core general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, and financial close and reporting capabilities, with configuration and prototyping led by the internal Lead Analyst – SAP Business Systems. Design activities included complex business process redesign, functional specification development, configuration, unit and integration testing, and staged cutover planning consistent with enterprise change controls.
Workstreams reflected alignment and interoperability planning with SAP BW/BObj for reporting, SAP BPC for planning and consolidation, SAP Process Orchestration for workflow and interface orchestration, SuccessFactors for HR-related data flows, and Concur for travel and expense processes. These integrations were treated as coordinated interfaces to maintain transactional integrity and to synchronize master data across finance and adjacent functions.
Governance was formalized through IT Applications change management processes, with tracking and confirmation of landscape changes and review by the SAP Enterprise Architect and SAP Basis stakeholders. The Lead Analyst role provided liaison services between business owners and IT, led design sessions, authored specifications and system models, and coached local and distributed teams to operationalize the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment.
