The program also included reporting and a Service Now module to surface absence data and case management, consistent with standard Absence and Leave Management functionality such as leave accruals, eligibility rules, and manager approvals.
Operational scope was global, covering 86 countries and multiple regional HR teams, with the Workday Absence Management application operating as a shared HR service layer for payroll-adjacent and talent management activities. The project documented interface points for reporting and service management, and positioned absence workflows within HR, talent, and service management business functions.
Governance was formalized through a Global Workday Test Manager role, which developed and managed the test workstream from July 2019 through December 2019, coordinating over 50 testers and working alongside Project Implementation Teams, including Deloitte. Test governance focused on end-to-end validation to ensure IT changes were fully tested and met business requirements prior to rollout, emphasizing structured test plans, defect triage, and cross-functional sign-offs.
