In 2017, Moreton Bay Regional Council implemented TechnologyOne ERP as part of an ERP Financial initiative to consolidate reporting and budgeting across the newly amalgamated Redcliffe, Caboolture and Pine Rivers Councils. The deployment aligned TechnologyOne ERP with TechnologyOne’s Corporate Performance Management suite to provide a single source of financial and performance data for council divisions.
The implementation delivered discrete functional modules including Business Intelligence, Enterprise Budgeting, Performance Planning and an ETL extract transform and load capability, all surfaced through customised BI dashboards and visualizations such as graphs, gauges and traffic light indicators. Enterprise Budgeting provided one consistent budgeting methodology and a central data repository, while Performance Planning supported strategic, corporate, operational, enterprise risk, community and capital works planning and measurement. TechnologyOne ERP was configured to centralize data access and to enable role-appropriate dashboard views for managers and operational staff.
Integrations were driven through the ETL layer which extracted data from third party systems and collated it for BI consumption, enabling one-click visibility into operational metrics. The ETL-fed dashboards report counts such as purchase orders raised, customer service requests and project launches, and the system sends weekly work lists to council officers to support time management. Operational coverage included more than 350 staff users across managers, field workers, three office locations and external depots, extending the ERP Financial footprint into finance operations, customer service, asset and project tracking functions.
Governance and rollout emphasized collaborative requirements gathering and data migration, with council managers defining dashboard requirements and a dedicated project manager supporting the migration to production. TechnologyOne acted in a consulting role to help translate the three councils’ methodologies into a unified configuration, giving Moreton Bay a customizable platform for ongoing process standardization.
Outcomes reported by the council include enhanced ability to manage data analytics, improved tracking through customised dashboards, complete extraction of data from third party systems and improved staff productivity and accountability as performance is tracked across divisions.
