In 2018, MSD Italy implemented SAP SuccessFactors Learning as its Learning and Development platform. The deployment supported approximately 800 users and was operated across local departments and field sales teams, with cross functional coordination at European and Global levels where required.
SAP SuccessFactors Learning was administered with a full set of LMS administrative roles, including Item Admin, Curricula Admin, Report Runner, Instructor Admin, Learning Assignment Admin, Registrar Virtual Learning Admin, and Content Object Admin. Configuration focused on curricula management, learning assignment workflows, virtual classroom administration, content object lifecycle, and reporting capabilities, with the SAP SuccessFactors Learning name used centrally for course and compliance orchestration.
Operational integrations and content workflows included the use of Articulate Storyline 3 for authoring e learning content, and Microsoft Office 365 with SharePoint Designer and Team Sites for document storage and learner facing content repositories. The implementation established a vendor onboarding and testing workflow, the LMS administrator serving as the primary point of contact for external learning service providers and responsible for importing and validating new services in the learning environment. Support activities extended to audio and video recording and editing for the Sales Training Team and routine infrastructure troubleshooting for sales and field force users.
Governance and process responsibilities were formalized through certified SAP LMS administrative roles and by producing user guides and tutorials for both field force and headquarters users. The administrator provided ongoing IT and infrastructure support, problem solving, and training support, aligning operational procedures for content imports, virtual classroom scheduling, and report execution within the SAP SuccessFactors Learning environment. These controls supported consistent delivery of Learning and Development services across MSD Italy.
