The implementation emphasized online sourcing and candidate intake through the Munich Re website, with the 2011 rollout anchoring the applicant workflow on the public career portal. | SAP Fioneer | Legacy | SAP Fioneer Core Banking | Core Banking | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2022 | 2023 |
In 2022, Munich Re implemented SAP Fioneer Core Banking to strengthen financial and regulatory reporting and to meet IFRS 17 requirements. The deployment centralized accounting and subledger functions across the group, covering both primary insurance and reinsurance business lines and aligning the platform with corporate reporting objectives.
The implementation configured the FPSL, the Financial Product Subledger system, as a unified subledger to capture accounting events, support contract measurement under IFRS 17, and feed consolidated reporting. Functional workstreams focused on subledger orchestration, automated accounting event capture, and harmonization of measurement and posting rules, positioning SAP Fioneer Core Banking as the core accounting backbone for insurance product economics.
Munich Re moved the application footprint into the cloud, enabling on-demand scalability for peak processing and close cycles and simplifying infrastructure management. Operational coverage extended across group finance and regulatory reporting teams, with the platform integrated into existing financial close and reporting processes to create a single, consistent source of accounting truth.
Governance for the program included a combined steering committee with SAP Fioneer executives participating to provide visibility into program progress and to guide product evolution. The program delivered harmonized processes and a single subledger across businesses, which Munich Re cited as increasing data quality and process efficiency and supporting faster close readiness, while cloud deployment provided the capacity to scale quickly when needed.
