In 2012, National Instruments Malaysia implemented Oracle E-Business Suite to provide core ERP Financial capabilities across its manufacturing operations. The deployment targeted financial consolidation, cost accounting, and transactional accounting needs for the company's Malaysia sites and was sized to support an organization of approximately 1500 employees. The implementation was intended to support both finance and Manufacturing R&D workflows.
Oracle E-Business Suite was configured with core financial modules including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Cash Management to support statutory reporting and manufacturing cost tracking. Configuration work emphasized chart of accounts design, period closing workflows, and integration-ready transaction objects consistent with ERP Financial requirements. The Oracle E-Business Suite implementation also included automation of routine accounting processes and month end control points aligned with manufacturing project accounting.
The solution used Oracle Database as the underlying data tier and the internal IT Applications team managed both application development and operations support for the database and E-Business Suite stack. Operational coverage included Manufacturing R&D and finance functions, with the application supporting procurement-to-pay and order-to-cash process traces relevant to manufacturing projects. Ongoing technical stewardship remained with the in-house team to coordinate application patches and environment provisioning.
Governance and rollout were overseen by the Senior IT Applications Manager based in Penang, who acted as project manager and led recruiting, budgeting, and resource planning for Oracle E-Business Suite initiatives. The delivery model combined programmers and operations analysts to maintain release cycles, application support, and configuration changes, aligning IT delivery practices with finance and manufacturing operational needs.
