SAP Legacy SAP HCM Benefits Benefits Administration HCM n/a 2015 2016
In 2015, National Railway Company of Belgium implemented SAP HCM Benefits to centralize Benefits Administration across HR Rail, the legal employer for the Belgian rail workforce. SAP HCM Benefits was deployed to support the Compensation & Benefits team in formalizing wage and fringe benefits policy that underpins the employer relationship with NMBS and Infrabel. The implementation focused on benefits configuration and rule based eligibility, fringe benefits administration, and embedded wage simulation capabilities to support policy design and payroll decisioning. SAP HCM Benefits was configured to handle regulatory parameters, bilingual process requirements, and the preparation and updating of pedagogical materials used for stakeholder training. Operationally the SAP HCM Benefits deployment was integrated with HR Rail workflows for payroll and recruitment, supporting coordination between compensation policy owners and transactional payroll and hiring processes. The application served Belgian operations and the HR functions responsible for selection and recruitment, career mobility, training, legal and social services, aligning benefits administration with those functional processes. Governance was retained within the Compensation & Benefits team, with a documented process for updating remuneration frameworks in consultation with the rail customers, delivering training and benchmark driven policy adjustments. The rollout emphasized process ownership, cross functional collaboration with payroll and recruitment, and the use of SAP HCM Benefits to instrument simulations and policy updates that support the organization objectives to attract, motivate and retain employees.
