Infor Legacy Infor LX Manufacturing ERP ERP Services and Operations n/a 2014 2014
In 2014 Nippon Chemi-Con Corporation put a new Infor LX implementation into service as part of a global standardization of sales, distribution, and production systems. The Infor LX Manufacturing ERP deployment supported a company-wide effort to consolidate site specific customizations that had produced divergent operational variants across domestic and overseas production and sales bases. The implementation focused on standardizing sales, distribution, and production functions inside Infor LX, with the sales and distribution user interface and batch programs redeveloped in Java and the conventional ERP user layer removed for the new sales and distribution system. Infor LX continued to serve as the Manufacturing ERP core for production management, extending an established use of Infor ERP LX on AS/400 class IBM i platforms that dated back to the companys Indonesia factory build. Hardware and system architecture changes accompanied the Infor LX work, driven by server consolidation and platform refresh requirements. Nippon Chemi-Con evaluated three configuration options presented by CSI Solutions and selected a Power770 server combined with IBM Storwize V7000 external storage, configured into 15 LPAR partitions to map existing workloads. A ProtecTIER virtual tape device was introduced to replace per partition tape units, delivering deduplication, compressed backups, multiple virtual tape libraries from a single appliance, and the option to place a secondary ProtecTIER offsite for disaster countermeasures. Governance and rollout emphasized minimal disruption and reuse of existing partition layouts to accelerate cutover, the first machine moved in October 2013, the second in December 2013, and the consolidated Infor LX environment entering production in January 2014. Operational scope covered three domestic production bases, a United States production system, the companys web information system, and sales and distribution systems for Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and South Korea. The program was positioned as a stepping stone toward a next generation global production system, with business continuity and data preservation cited as explicit drivers following the Great East Japan Earthquake, and with observed improvements in disk processing performance and simplified backup operations after the infrastructure refresh.
