In 2018, Nisbets implemented IBM Cognos Analytics as the core platform within its Analytics and BI estate, establishing a centralized reporting capability for senior management, financial, sales, operational and strategic functions. IBM Cognos Analytics was deployed to provide a governed reporting layer that tied into a newly built data warehouse and a broader reporting framework. The implementation included installation and configuration of IBM Cognos Analytics servers and underlying applications, alongside Microsoft SQL Server and associated SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS components. Development work produced Framework Manager metadata models and associated packages together with a suite of reports, and a dimensional data model was developed using the Kimble methodology, with ETL implemented via SSIS on SQL Server to ingest multiple source systems. Operational integration covered administration of the existing TM1 environment and a transition of TM1 onto an IBM hosted Planning Analytics platform, including IBM Secure Gateway setup and configuration to support hybrid connectivity. Project delivery involved close consultation with business stakeholders to define report specifications across Senior Management, Financial, Sales, Operational and Strategic reporting, and collaboration with system teams to identify and extract required data feeds into the data warehouse. Governance and rollout work focused on creating a repeatable reporting framework through Framework Manager metadata and standardized package deployment, establishing data warehouse schemas to support Cognos Analytics reporting workflows. The IBM Cognos Analytics implementation positioned Nisbets to centralize BI governance and to standardize reporting specifications across business functions.
