| SAP | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | SAP S/4 HANA Finance | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018 Hydro implemented SAP S/4 HANA Finance as part of an SAP roadmap to transform the entire SAP landscape for its 35 000 employees globally, replacing SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and targeting its ERP Financial footprint. The program positioned SAP S/4 HANA Finance at the core of a consolidated SAP landscape, with an explicit focus on modernizing finance processes and enabling HANA native capabilities across the organization.
The implementation encompassed a technical migration to the S/4HANA platform and adoption of HANA in-memory reporting and analysis, while aligning core financial workflows with S/4 HANA best practices. Configuration work emphasized finance process modernization, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and period end close workflows, and the project scoped user experience improvements tied to SAP Fiori style interactions.
Operational coverage was global, reflecting Hydro’s intent to harmonize business processes across sites and business units within the SAP landscape, and the SAP team retained central responsibility for embedding new functionality into day to day operations. The engagement prioritized enabling users to leverage HANA optimized functionality within core processes and to consume in-memory reporting and analysis outputs as part of routine financial operations.
Governance centered on an internal SAP team working closely with business stakeholders to develop future best practice use of SAP, drive configuration standards and oversee rollout sequencing. The program explicitly targeted improved user experience and in-memory reporting and analysis as outcomes, and the SAP organization was tasked with sustaining the solution and operationalizing new S/4 HANA Finance capabilities.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits | Benefits Administration | HCM | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, Hydro implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits to centralize Benefits Administration and support global Compensation and Benefits operations. The deployment targeted global HR processes across countries in scope, orienting around Employee Central Global Benefits for benefits master data, eligibility, and enrollment workflows.
The implementation emphasized configuration of compensation modules in SuccessFactors, development of short term incentive calculation tooling, and orchestration of the annual salary review process, coordinating merit increase and variable pay workflows. SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits was configured to host compensation related master data, enforce data readiness checks prior to running compensation modules, and support maintenance of a global job architecture and internal job structure.
Operational coverage required structured data handoffs to payroll, ensuring correct transfer of compensation and benefits data to payroll systems, and close liaison with local HR teams and GBS HR to handle country specific variations. The HR Specialist function was defined to coordinate participation in external annual salary surveys and to conduct compensation benchmarking with external data providers to feed market pricing into the Benefits Administration system.
Governance centered on a global support model with defined responsibilities for compensation and benefits processes, master data stewardship, and ad hoc advisory on system master data related questions. Rollout and operationalization focused on process orchestration for annual salary reviews, short term incentive calculations, and ongoing maintenance of global job architecture, with day to day ownership embedded in HR specialist and local HR touchpoints.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP Concur Travel | Travel Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019, Hydro implemented SAP Concur Travel to centralize Travel Management and travel expense workflows across its multinational operations in Europe and the United States. The implementation was part of a broader end-to-end service model covering payment and Accounts Payable, procurement, travel expense, and entertainment processes across approximately 14 to 17 countries, and included corporate card program changes for all European entities and rollouts in three additional countries.
The SAP Concur Travel deployment emphasized full digitalization of travel and expense processes, with detailed business requirements gathered and documented as initial specifications. Functional workstreams included travel and expense reporting, corporate card integration, and training for operational teams, with the project team providing end-user training and creating the configuration baseline for approvals and expense policy enforcement.
Integrations were a central element of the program, with payments and expense outputs consolidated into multiple ERPs to streamline transaction initiation and reconciliation. Hydro integrated 500 to 800 payments per month into its ERP layer, coordinating automated daily payments and working closely with Treasury, Banking, Intercompany, and AP functions, while managing a program-level transition of 14 business units from Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics AX to SAP.
Governance and operational control were formalized through monthly calls with business units, joint performance improvement strategies, and tightened closing processes for monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting. The program supported audit readiness and compliance through liaison with internal and external auditors including KPMG, produced measurable operational outcomes reported by the team such as increased transparency, reduced manual work, daily automated payments, improved payment on-time ratios, and a recognized subject matter expert role for payments.
