Scope and Challenges
Office Depot was transforming its traditional mail order business into an easy-to-use online webshop. The website until then has already grown to become the central point of sale for their products, from 20% of transactions which took place online, by 2016 that figure has grown to 80%.
Looking to the future, Office Depot wanted to offer a personal approach. The ultimate goal was to achieve a 360-degree view of the customer, a platform that will integrate and link their own back-end systems (including ERP and Order systems).
Around this time, in early 2017, Office Depot Europe decided to disrupt it's HCM Solution by moving away from legacy infrastructure - PeopleSoft by Oracle.
Outcome and Implications
Office Depot Europe having a long partnership with SAP ( the company implemented SAP EEP ECC 6.0 nearly a decade ago ) decided to partner with SAP again. More precisely they adopted SAP C/4HANA solutions to streamline processes, people and technology to an optimal effect. The company operates through 31 different websites in Europe, so every change had to be implemented 31 times. Making a simple change on the website, like adding a new product, easily took 48 hours as a result.
Soon after they quickly operated smoothly with Tacit Knowledge to implement SAP Commerce Cloud for B2B. During the implementation, an agile approach helped to adapt to the rapidly changing digital market. Valuable data was converted into action, making it possible to offer a personalized customer journey, with that said the customer satisfaction scored have improved significantly.
As for the HCM solution, they went with Workday's solution - Workday HCM.
