SAP SAP ERP ECC 6.0 SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ERP n/a 2021 2022
In 2021, Omni Offshore Terminals implemented SAP S/4 HANA to consolidate core financial processes under ERP Financial. The deployment replaced SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and focused on centralizing general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and financial reporting across the company headquarters in Singapore and on-board vessel operations. The project targeted a 400 employee manufacturing and operations footprint and extended transactional capture to both office and vessel sites where in-house applications are supported. SAP S/4 HANA was configured to deliver standard ERP Financial capabilities, with implementation workstreams covering chart of accounts design, posting rules, period close configuration, intercompany accounting and statutory reporting setups. The program included configuration and some custom development to orchestrate automated posting flows, validation logic and month end sequencing consistent with ERP Financial functional workflows. Development and technical design reused established enterprise patterns for web services and API driven integration to avoid bespoke siloed connectors. Integrations were implemented using web service API calls to SAP S/4 HANA and included downstream and peripheral systems explicitly identified in project documentation, such as SAP b1, K2 workflow components, gantry and biometric devices, handled devices, Canon smart device printers, and point of sale cash drawer and printer hardware. The in-house technical team used Azure platform services for application hosting and integration, leveraging Web App, Web Jobs, Azure Functions, Blob Storage, SQL and AAD for authentication, and instrumented reporting and ETL using SQL Server, SSRS and SSIS. Data exchange patterns used RESTful and SOAP APIs, JSON payloads and SQL based staging to support reconciliations and reporting. Governance and delivery were staffed by an internal technical development organization with responsibilities across solution architecture, software design, testing, deployment and post go-live support. The team followed both agile and waterfall practices depending on workstream, executed requirement workshops and UAT sessions, managed SDLC artifacts in TFS including code reviews, shelving, check-ins, branch maintenance and auto-builds, and performed rollout coordination and root cause analysis after go-live. End-user support, training and multilingual configuration were part of the operational readiness plan, reflecting prior experience in multi-country multi-language projects. Post-implementation activities emphasized operational support and stabilization, with in-house teams providing application support for offices and vessels, conducting troubleshooting after go-live and performing ongoing systems analysis and incremental improvements. The SAP S/4 HANA implementation remained tightly coupled to the company's existing device and middleware landscape via documented API contracts, and governance centered on controlled code promotion, user acceptance gates and formal RCA processes for production incidents.
