In 2015 Orora implemented Esker Accounts Payable to address shortcomings in an existing scan and OCR based invoice capture setup that left most AP processing manual. The AP Automation deployment centralized invoice intake for Orora’s accounts payable team based in Melbourne, which processes about 220,000 invoices annually and facilitates both domestic and international payments.
Esker Accounts Payable was configured to provide automated invoice capture at point of receipt, a centralized invoice repository for visibility, workflow-based approval routing, and exceptions handling consistent with AP Automation functional patterns. The implementation emphasized recording invoices on receipt to eliminate visibility gaps reported by sites that believed they had forwarded documents but could not trace them in AP.
Operational coverage focused on centralizing AP processing in Melbourne while supporting invoice flows from multiple corporate and site sources, addressing the prior environment’s dependence on multiple disjointed systems. The deployment consolidated start-to-finish invoice handling within Esker Accounts Payable to streamline the process and reduce reliance on numerous interfaces that had previously made processing convoluted.
Governance and process change were led by AP Manager Tony Gruevski and Enterprise Application Manager Paul Gilbert, with configuration choices aimed at standardizing invoice intake, approval workflows, and exception resolution across sites. The project centered on embedding Esker Accounts Payable capabilities into Orora’s AP operating model to improve invoice traceability and operational control within the accounts payable function.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP SuccessFactors Compensation | Compensation Management | HCM | RKM Consulting | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017 Orora implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as part of a Compensation Management deployment within a broader global HCM and payroll transformation. The SAP SuccessFactors Compensation implementation was delivered alongside Employee Central, Recruitment Management, and On-boarding modules, with the program impacting approximately 6,700 employees across Orora’s HR and payroll footprint.
The implementation focused on core compensation management capabilities, including configuration of compensation plans, merit and bonus cycles, eligibility rules, approval workflows, and role based security and calibration processes. SAP SuccessFactors Compensation was configured to consume master HR data from SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central to drive eligibility and organizational structures, aligning plan hierarchies and approval chains with existing HR roles.
Integrations were coordinated with SAP Employee Central Payroll for downstream payroll processing and with Workforce Software for time and attendance alignment as part of the HCM landscape. Operational coverage was centered on HR and payroll functions, with the Compensation module stitched into end to end HCM workflows that included recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and time capture, maintaining consistency of employee records across systems.
RKM Consulting supported the program as an implementation partner, and project governance included a project charter, testing strategy, change and communication plan, cut over plan, integration plan, and detailed project timelines. The program team managed overall project budget, conducted RFP reviews and proof of concept workshops, led scoping sessions to define as is and to be processes, provided functional design input for HCM and payroll, and managed third party vendor activities during rollout.

In 2019, Orora implemented QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) as its Manufacturing ERP to centralize returnable packaging and inventory operations across Australia and New Zealand. The deployment was focused at site level including Hawthorn VIC and incorporated routine system audits and inventory monitoring into daily operations.
The QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) deployment emphasized inventory control, cycle counting, stock transfer and inventory receipt processing, pricing master data and returnable packaging workflows. Functional activities included weekly system audits, cycle counts, inventory adjustments, reconciliation of master data across multiple Orora sites, and updating stock transfer orders and inventory receipts within QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO).
Operational scope covered multiple Orora sites in Australia and New Zealand and involved coordination with Accounts and third party logistics operations to manage credits and logistics for packaging returns. Workstreams included compiling a consolidated list of active customers, confirming returnable packaging agreements with customers, and enabling quick access to pricing and returnability information for internal stakeholders.
Process governance changes were driven by value stream mapping and current state process analysis that removed unwanted data and tightened master data controls, and a standardized receipting procedure for returnable packaging was produced for rollout across Orora sites in Australia and New Zealand. Operational outcomes recorded in the engagement included improved packaging inventory accuracy through targeted data entry and assessment in QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO), management of approximately 8.5M in packaging inventory across the network, and documented reductions in packaging loss rates from 6% to 3% for plastic pallets and from 5% to 2% for plastic frames. A manual Excel tracker was trialed to support forecasting and shortfall management during rollout.
