In 2010 Ovation deployed Microsoft Dynamics NAV as its ERP Financial application to centralize financial operations. The deployment supported payroll processing for 300 staff and was used to consolidate two previously separate company entities onto a single financial ledger.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV was configured to manage core financial workflows including accounts payable, weekly and monthly financial reporting, and ledger consolidation while interfacing with payroll processes. A complex spreadsheet was developed to handle manual, complicated payroll calculations, and that spreadsheet became the basis for plant reporting.
The implementation operated alongside Fivestar payroll, IMS and ADI systems, reflecting a multi-system operational architecture where Navision served as the central financial system. Operational coverage included payroll, accounts payable, plant reporting and livestock system inputs, supporting the merged company structure.
Operational governance centered on a small centralized team, the implementation lead managed a team of three and handled hiring and training to sustain payroll and reporting operations. The project changed the payroll system and merged two companies onto a single Microsoft Dynamics NAV instance, with process controls formalized around the spreadsheet-driven payroll calculations to standardize plant reporting workflows.

In 2016, Ovation implemented Microsoft Power BI to centralize reporting and analytics for management and finance. Ovation used Microsoft Power BI in the Analytics and BI category to support monthly P&L and Balance Sheet reporting, budget preparation, and senior management data analysis across the organisation.
The implementation included development of Microsoft Power BI reports and data models, business analysis work to define reporting requirements, and configuration of dashboards for management and financial reporting. Functional capabilities delivered included account level P&L and balance sheet reporting, budget support workflows, and reusable data models to enable ad hoc analysis by finance and business users.
The reporting layer integrated with Microsoft Dynamics Navision ERP System and the Continia Document Capture System to source transactional GL and document level data. Operational coverage spanned finance and adjacent departments with reports developed across the organisation, consolidating ERP financial feeds and captured documents into Power BI datasets.
Governance activities included business process mapping, user acceptance testing management, and iterative process improvements across departments. Those process improvements are recorded as producing time saving outcomes, and the program emphasized data modelling discipline and business analysis to maintain reporting accuracy and operational consistency.
