| Ethereum Foundation | Legacy | Ethereum Platform | Blockchain Platform | Blockchain | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018 Pegasus Airlines implemented the Ethereum Platform as a Blockchain Platform to digitalize operational processes at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport. The project targeted real time operational visibility for Operations Control Center staff, connecting airline flight definitions and updates with airport operational data across flight handling workflows.
The implementation used Ethereum blockchain infrastructure in conjunction with Pegasus' own enterprise middleware to orchestrate message exchange and event publication. Key functional capabilities included real time publication of flight definitions and updates from Pegasus Flight Control System, and ingestion of airport-generated operational information such as gate assignments, baggage carousel usage, and boarding bridge status, all surfaced on OCC displays.
Integrations were explicitly bidirectional between Pegasus systems and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen airport systems operated by İSG, enabling near instantaneous transfer of operational events across the blockchain layer. The scope was operational, focused on flight operations and ground handling at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, with OCC staff and airport operational teams as primary users of the synchronized data flows.
Governance and process changes were implemented through Pegasus Information Technologies, which retained middleware control and operational ownership while using the Blockchain Platform to improve data integrity and transaction traceability. Pegasus reported that the integration secured more accurate data transfers and reduced personnel effort, and characterized the implementation as one of the first blockchain applications in the airline industry executed in collaboration with İSG.
