In 2020 Prana Organic implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its ERP Financial system. The deployment centralized core financial processes for the Montreal based consumer packaged goods company and targeted finance, e-commerce accounting, inventory reconciliation, vendor onboarding and warehouse coordination as primary business functions.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central was configured to support standard financial modules including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed asset and expense reporting, and inventory control, together with extensions for e-commerce transaction accounting and KPI reporting. The implementation emphasized configurable reporting tools in the ERP for department-level KPI creation and month-end close workflows, enabling structured journal entry, schedule and reconciliation processes used by the finance team and the Assistant Controller role.
Operational integrations focused on electronic data interchange and vendor portals, with the Assistant Controller responsible for new customer setup in EDI and vendor portals and for diagnosing and resolving EDI issues. The ERP implementation also established transactional links to warehouse operations for tracking shipping errors and to e-commerce sales channels for end-to-end accounting of online transactions, supporting cross-functional processes between finance, warehouse and commercial teams.
Governance changes included centralized customer and vendor onboarding in the ERP, formalized procedures for investigating inventory discrepancies and for supervising the accounting cycle of e-commerce transactions, and provisioning of audit support through standardized year-end inventory counts and audit file preparation.
