| Arcserve | Legacy | Arcserve UDP Archiving | Archive as a Service (AaaS) | IaaS | n/a | 2019 | 2019 | In 2019, PTV Group implemented Arcserve UDP Archiving as part of a broader Arcserve suite update, categorizing the deployment under Archive as a Service (AaaS). As part of the update PTV extended and updated Arcserve Unified Data Protection, upgraded Arcserve Backup, deployed Arcserve RHA for replication and high availability, and installed Arcserve UDP Archiving as an email archiving system. The implementation covers core data protection and archival capabilities, including backup and replication of 1,000 virtual servers split evenly across 500 VMware and 500 Hyper-V hosts, protecting approximately 700 TB of productive data uncompressed. Arcserve UDP Archiving was configured alongside UDP to support centralized backup, bare metal recovery, and automated deduplication based on source and target, with an achievable deduplication ratio reported at 87 percent and a recoverable emergency capacity of up to 8.7 PB using UDP. Operational architecture centralizes replication from all offices to PTV headquarters, securing business critical ERP and CRM data as well as software repositories and daily build artifacts. The deployment was positioned to ensure consistent backup schedules and rapid replication across sites, while Arcserve RHA provides continuous replication and high availability for prioritized workloads. Governance and operational workflows were streamlined through a single management interface, centralized emergency backup automation, and automated SLA reporting for stakeholders. PTV reports that automation reduced the time required for management and maintenance by up to 50 percent, and that compliance with SLA agreements is supported by the Arcserve solution. |
