In 2016 RACQ implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX as part of an ERP Financial deployment supporting core finance operations across its insurance business. The implementation was positioned alongside cloud infrastructure work and operated within a mixed environment that included AWS for non production workloads and Azure for platform and CI CD orchestration.
Microsoft Dynamics AX was configured to support standard ERP Financial capabilities, with emphasis on general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting and payments workflows that align to insurance finance processes. Configuration management and automation code were delivered to provision and maintain Dynamics AX test and staging environments, enabling repeatable deployments and environment parity for release cycles.
The program integrated Dynamics AX workstreams with broader IT initiatives, including the One New Bank program where components were delivered for the Single Customer View Project and integration activity with TOMB and RACE infrastructure supported the re launch of RACE Bank. Infrastructure work included proof of concept lifts of VMware servers in the DMZ to AWS to enable data centre consolidation, the use of Puppet for AWS provisioning, Azure Resource Manager templates for Azure provisioning, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 support, and CI CD pipelines maintained within the Azure platform.
Governance centered on infrastructure as code, configuration management and Agile delivery practices, with a DevOps engineer responsible for provisioning, configuration management, Agile story estimation, defect management and maintaining WIKI documentation for Microsoft Dynamics AX.
