In 2013 RTI International implemented Deltek CostPoint as its ERP Financial solution for core finance operations and regulatory reporting. The deployment supported centralized financial controls and the creation of operational, financial, and regulatory metrics consumed by users across the organization.
Deltek CostPoint was administered as the primary finance application with configuration focused on general ledger, project accounting, and regulatory reporting workflows, while Cognos Analytics was used for financial reporting and dashboard delivery. The implementation included development of complex analytics and dashboards for multiple user tiers, end to end data validation for ETL processes into the enterprise data warehouse, and automation of manual month end procedures within Cognos.
The program included a technical migration of the CostPoint footprint from a client server architecture to a web based platform, accompanied by test plan development, data validation routines, and troubleshooting processes. Business intelligence interoperability was explicitly managed, with a Power BI pilot followed by conversion to Cognos Analytics, and ETL processes used to feed the data warehouse and reporting layer.
Governance and operational rollout centered on a dedicated Financial System Administrator who functioned as liaison between finance users and IT, led user training, conducted system upgrades, and analyzed business processes to align CostPoint functionality with finance workflows. Governance centered on centralized session administration, role-based access for hosts and attendees, and standardized session templates to maintain consistent delivery of audio, video and web conferencing across RTI International.
