wolfSSL Legacy wolfSSL Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) CyberSecurity n/a 2019 2019 In 2019, Saficard implemented wolfSSL, a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) implementation, to secure electronic e-care billing workflows on Ingenico iWL250 point of sale terminals. The deployment targeted transmission of French Vitale card billing data, aligning the application and its cryptographic components with payments and healthcare IT flows used by the company in France. Saficard used wolfSSL together with wolfCrypt to implement Transport Layer Security protocols and Cryptographic Message Syntax signing, specifically PKCS#7, on-device. The implementation concentrated on TLS session establishment, certificate-based authentication and CMS packaging of billing payloads, leveraging wolfSSL and wolfCrypt capabilities to provide both transport encryption and message-level cryptographic wrapping. The integration was implemented directly on Ingenico iWL250 POS terminals to enable secure, standards-compliant transmission of patient billing data from POS devices in France. The project addressed strict French healthcare security standards for e-care billing, ensuring the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) layer and cryptographic message syntax conformed to national requirements for handling Vitale card payment and billing data. Governance centered on embedding wolfSSL and wolfCrypt into POS device firmware and message handling, creating an operational pattern for secure TLS connections and PKCS#7-signed billing messages. The result was a production implementation that enabled standards-compliant, encrypted transmission of patient billing data from Saficard POS endpoints in the French healthcare payments environment.
