In 2018, Sign-Zone deployed Insight Works Shop Floor Insight, an implementation of a Manufacturing Execution System. The Insight Works Shop Floor Insight solution was integrated with Dynamics NAV/Business Central to capture employee and production time, assign tasks, measure scrap and rework, and display work instructions on touchscreen terminals at Sign-Zone's United States manufacturing facility.
The deployment configured employee time collection and production time tracking, task assignment workflows, and scrap and rework recording as core modules, with touchscreen terminals presenting step by step work instructions to operators. These configurations supported standard MES functions including discrete production tracking and operator task acknowledgements, aligning shop floor activities with ERP work orders in Dynamics NAV/Business Central.
Integration with Dynamics NAV/Business Central exchanged time stamps and production status updates, improving inventory accuracy and providing end to end visibility between the shop floor and ERP. Operational coverage was focused on Sign-Zone's US manufacturing and shop floor, impacting production, quality tracking, and inventory control functions.
The rollout emphasized touchscreen terminal adoption and operator facing instruction delivery, shifting several manual shop floor tasks into system driven workflows and supporting governance around production reporting. Reported outcomes included reduced scrap and rework, improved on time production and throughput, and greater shop floor visibility and inventory accuracy.
