| Broadcom | Legacy | AppWorx Workload Automation | Business Process Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015, Sunnova implemented AppWorx Workload Automation from Broadcom as part of a Business Process Management deployment to automate work orders and logistics workflows. The initiative focused on instrumenting automated job orchestration to drive operational processes across O&M, logistics, and accounting functions.
AppWorx Workload Automation was configured to orchestrate scheduled and event driven workflows that supported complex document generation and notifications. The implementation automated work order processes for approved third party vendors using a combination of MS Word Mail Merge, Google Docs, DocuSign and Adobe to trigger updates to O&M coordinators upon completion, and to generate and distribute required paperwork.
The solution integrated with Salesforce via ODBC and OLEDB connections and relied on Excel based data compilation for reporting and KPI creation. Operational coverage included O&M coordinators, third party vendors, Account Managers, Channel Partners and the Accounts Payable process, with job orchestration linking meter inventory uploads, purchase order approvals and manufacturer invoice verification to downstream accounting steps.
Governance and process changes accompanied the technical rollout, with Sunnova creating KPI dashboard scorecards using Excel advanced formulas, Visual Basic and Select statements tied to the Salesforce database. The team established and managed an O&M invoice handling process after transitioning invoicing responsibilities to the accounting department, and trained and supervised an invoice clerk to sustain the new workflow while reporting process insights to the VP of Operations and the Board of Directors.
The implementation included a logistics process to track and locate installed meters, which enabled ongoing monitoring fee collection and produced an explicit outcome of more than $60,000 annually in monitoring fees. The deployment of AppWorx Workload Automation established centralized job scheduling and automated document orchestration as core elements of Sunnova company Business Process Management.
