In 2024 Sustainable Shared Transport Inc. implemented Fujitsu Distributed Ledger as the Blockchain Platform underpinning a joint transportation and delivery data integration system developed with Fujitsu. The Fujitsu Distributed Ledger Blockchain Platform anchors an open matching and planning service designed to standardize pallet transport and digital information exchange between shippers and logistics providers.
The implementation includes a carrier and shipper matching engine and an optimization layer that leverages Fujitsu Unified Logistics capabilities to create optimal transport plans from shipper inputs such as shipping schedules, packaging and volume, and carrier schedules. Functional interfaces include a vehicle dispatch reservation management screen and standard pallet space unit handling, supporting scheduled trunk transport, relay transport and consolidated transport workflows.
Integrations are implemented as a cross-company data integration platform linking commercial and logistics information, with Fujitsu participating as a shipper and investing in SST, and with planned links to local distribution partners for last mile fulfillment in regions in Japan including Tokyo and Kawasaki. The platform conforms to SIP Smart Logistics Service project guidelines to enable cross-industry data exchange, and the joint platform is positioned to connect Yamato Group partner networks, commercial clients and thousands of logistics providers.
Governance and operational controls use the Fujitsu Distributed Ledger Blockchain Platform to provide secure data linkage, tamper detection through data change logging and recovery capabilities, supporting faster decision-making and cooperative operational workflows across companies. Explicit outcomes stated include increased load factors, reduced empty mileage and improved driver conditions, with the service scheduled to begin customer operations on February 1, 2025 and Fujitsu committing 50 million yen to SST as part of the joint initiative.
