In 2013 Tampa Bay Water implemented IBM Maximo CMMS as a Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) solution to support an advanced Asset Management Program and Reliability Centered Maintenance. Electronic Data, Inc. was contracted to deliver installation, configuration, training, documentation and project management for the engagement.
The implementation of IBM Maximo CMMS began with deployment of Maximo 7.5 and included a subsequent upgrade to Maximo 7.6. Core functional modules configured included definition of system hierarchies for locations and assets, maintenance planning with job plans and preventive maintenance schedules, and centralized work order management. The project also delivered innovative asset condition tracking capabilities to help prioritize capital improvement planning.
Integrations and operational coverage focused on spatial enablement through Maximo Spatial integration to GIS, aligning maintenance records with geospatial asset registers. The scope encompassed TBW assets distributed across three counties including water treatment plants, a desalination facility, well fields and a 15.5 billion gallon reservoir, and connected to existing enterprise systems such as GIS, ERP and a document repository environment where applicable. Business functions impacted included operations, maintenance planning, capital planning and reliability engineering.
