In 2020, Tata Motors implemented SAP S/4 HANA under a RISE with SAP program to modernize core finance and fleet operations in an ERP Financial capacity. The program migrated from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 and targeted TSCMSL Fleet Management alongside Workshop and Depot Management systems, aligning ERP Financial processes with fleet operational requirements.
SAP S/4 HANA was configured to support Financial Accounting, Controlling COPA, Treasury, Contract and Leasing, Plant Maintenance, Procurement and Inventory, Sales, Governance and Compliance, and integration touchpoints to SAP BTP, Analytics Cloud, and PAPM. Configuration work emphasized end to end finance and controlling flows, contract and leasing processes for fleet assets, maintenance workflows for vehicle service operations, and procurement and inventory controls for spare parts and depot management.
Integration work addressed authentication and authorization across multiple systems and environments, including directory based approaches such as LDAP, and provided interfaces between SAP S/4 HANA and workshop depot applications, vehicle telematics IoT feeds and intelligent transport system components. SAP BTP and Analytics Cloud were leveraged to host analytics and planning capabilities, with PAPM used for profitability and performance management and to surface operational insights for fleet teams. Operational coverage spanned IT operations and business functions responsible for fleet operations, workshops, procurement, finance and regional program stakeholders.
Program governance combined agile and waterfall delivery, running requirement and blueprint workshops, authoring BRDs, managing change requests and coordinating planned downtimes with business stakeholders. Project controls focused on risk and issue resolution, budget monitoring, milestone tracking, infrastructure readiness and stakeholder signoff to enable seamless engagement between passengers, drivers, partners and internal teams and to support safe and efficient fleet operations and insights to improve the product and fleet.

Implemented functional capabilities included candidate sourcing and matching, automated job description generation, screening workflows and candidate communication orchestration, aligned with typical applicant tracking process flows. The implementation emphasized AI-assisted shortlisting to increase screening precision within the recruiting lifecycle.
Integration work augmented Tata Motors’ RPO and the existing PeopleStrong integration to enable accelerated candidate handoffs and communications between the RPO team and internal talent acquisition stakeholders. Governance and operational alignment were managed through RPO operations and talent acquisition leadership to embed the new AI capabilities into established recruitment workflows. The deployment explicitly improved screening precision and recruitment workflow efficiency as part of the HR recruiting program.
