In 2010, Time Warner implemented SAP Concur Expense. The deployment focused on Expense Management to centralize employee expense reporting, travel-related charges, and production cost capture across finance, travel, and production accounting functions.
SAP Concur Expense was configured to support standard Expense Management capabilities, including electronic expense reporting, receipt capture, corporate card reconciliation, configurable approval workflows, and policy enforcement. Configuration work included mapping expense categories and account coding to Time Warner production cost structures such as PSL entries and production cost centers, and establishing automated posting and reconciliation rules.
The implementation integrated with multiple finance and operational data sources noted by the customer, including SAP for general ledger, purchasing, and orders, PeopleSoft and Oracle general ledgers, linear and digital ad sales systems, TV and movie production systems identified as PSL, and charter flight booking data. Connectors and interfaces were structured to feed expense transactions and travel charges into the GL mapping layer, and to ingest travel itinerary and charter data into the Concur expense flow for validation and reconciliation.
Governance was organized around centralized policy controls and approval flows inside SAP Concur Expense, with role based approvals aligned to finance and production accounting teams. The rollout emphasized GL mapping discipline, automated reconciliation touchpoints to downstream ledgers, and operational handoffs between travel operations, procurement, and corporate finance to ensure expense data integrity.

The deployment targeted the US HR and talent area and covered corporate and division HR teams for centralized talent processes.
Functional modules implemented included succession planning, performance management, and 360 degree assessments, with the vendor press release explicitly naming succession planning as a delivered module. Pilat Talent Management was configured to support succession candidate pools, development planning, performance appraisal cycles, and multi rater feedback workflows consistent with Talent Management system capabilities.
Operationally the program centralized succession and assessment workflows into existing HR processes, aligning performance and 360 assessment outputs with succession reviews and talent calibration activities. Governance placed ownership with the US HR and talent function for administration and rollout, and the implementation embedded assessment driven workflows to inform ongoing talent review and succession planning across divisions.
