| Sterling Talent Solutions | Legacy | Sterling Background Check | BackGround Screening | HCM | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021 UCHealth implemented Sterling Background Check as a central element of its BackGround Screening operations within the onboarding and talent acquisition function. The deployment was focused on the UCHealth onboarding team at the Cincinnati, OH site and supported recruiters, hiring managers, and HR business partners across prehire workflows.
Configuration work emphasized end to end prehire workflows, including I9 verification, E-Verify coordination, Streamlines administration, and Sterling Background Check processing. The team developed fingerprinting procedures, a Microsoft Access based tracking database, and a task tracking system to orchestrate background screening milestones and bi weekly onboarding targets.
Operational integration relied on documented use of multiple facets of the HRIS and the applicant tracking system to maintain candidate records and evidence of clearance. Staff guided corrective action case handling when background checks were not cleared, troubleshot pre employment inefficiencies, and served as the primary customer service contact for new hires regarding onboarding and screening status.
Governance and rollout included training the onboarding team on new processes, coaching on attention to detail and process compliance, supervising daily delegation to meet onboarding goals, and developing a pre hire process for applicants under the age of 18. Behavioral science informed solutions were proposed to build team buy in, and misconduct documentation and escalation paths were established to standardize decision making around background screening outcomes.

| Cognizant | Legacy | Cognizant Trizetto QicLink | Core Admin Processing System | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2013 | 2013 |
In 2013 UCHealth implemented Cognizant Trizetto QicLink to support Core Admin Processing System functions within its revenue cycle and claims processing operations. The deployment centered on application support and report development activities staffed by revenue cycle analysts and data specialists, with operational coverage documented in Colorado Springs. UCHealth Cognizant Trizetto QicLink Core Admin Processing System was used to centralize patient and provider administrative workflows for claims input and verification.
The implementation emphasized functional modules and capabilities that included application support, scripted data loading and updates, automated provider matching routines, and report generation. Teams developed and maintained scripts in C# and VB.NET and used Boston Workstation to automate bulk updates to the Electronic Health Record. Report development leveraged Crystal Reports and queries against DB2 and SQL sources as well as Excel and Access data extracts for analysis and distribution.
Integrations were explicitly focused on interoperability with the EHR and downstream applications, and on using the vendor API QicPac to automate manual scheduled processes. Data flows into Cognizant Trizetto QicLink included provider NPI matching feeds and claims-oriented extracts, with reports and data files generated for analysis and operational decision support. The deployment therefore functioned as a hub for administrative data orchestration across revenue cycle systems.
Governance and operational procedures were structured around the vendor release schedule, with updates installed according to vendor specifications and validated using test data. Teams communicated application updates and issues to end users and downstream system owners, and they created or updated scripts to improve reliability when adding or updating large information sets. Functional support responsibilities included ensuring claim data accuracy and maintaining automated processes using QicPac and custom code.

In 2017 UCHealth deployed the Avaamo AI Platform to power Livi, a virtual assistant in the Chatbots and Conversational AI category. Livi is an automated self service solution that emulates human interaction to help patients navigate UCHealth locations, doctors, specialties, blogs and events and to answer day to day queries about UCHealth.
The Avaamo AI Platform implementation centers on conversational workflows, natural language understanding and personalization to surface information about benefits, lifestyle and patient record questions. Functional capabilities implemented include multi turn dialogue management, intent recognition and contextual response generation to maintain conversational continuity and personalize answers.
Deployment architecture exposes Livi across UCHealth channels, with the virtual assistant available through the UCHealth mobile app, smart speakers and uchealth.org, and integrated with UCHealth patient records to provide personalized answers related to a patient’s health information. Operational scope is patient facing services across UCHealth, addressing patient engagement and information access workflows.
Governance and rollout emphasis aligned conversational automation with content controls and clinical data access rules so responses reference authorized record fields and appropriate information sources. The deployment of the Avaamo AI Platform at UCHealth demonstrates a Chatbots and Conversational AI implementation that centralizes conversational interfaces for patient engagement across mobile, voice and web channels.
