United States Tennis Association implemented Ease Compliance in 2016 to digitalize HR form capture and enrollment workflows. The implementation concentrated on USTA Texas and the US region, where Ease Compliance was provisioned to support benefits enrollment and onboarding for staff within the nonprofit organization.
Ease Compliance was configured to manage onboarding and benefits administration workflows, including electronic W-4 and I-9 form capture and online enrollment processes. The deployment emphasized paperless processing and workflow automation consistent with HR Compliance functionality, with Ease Compliance handling form collection, verification steps, and enrollment event orchestration.
Operational coverage focused on HR teams and benefits administrators in USTA Texas, extending to associated US region staff. The implementation standardized enrollment workflows and centralized document capture for new hire onboarding and open enrollment periods, aligning the Ease Compliance application with the organization key business functions of benefits administration and talent onboarding.

| IBM | Legacy | IBM Watsonx AI Commentary | Generative AI Platforms | AI Development | n/a | 2023 | 2023 |
In 2023 the United States Tennis Association deployed IBM Watsonx AI Commentary on USOpen.org and the US Open mobile app as part of a Generative AI Platforms initiative to enhance digital fan experiences. The IBM Watsonx AI Commentary implementation covered every singles match across all seventeen courts for the tournament, delivering automated audio narration and captions for highlight videos at scale to accompany the singles draw during the 2023 US Open.
The implementation combined two explicit generative capabilities, the IBM Watsonx AI Commentary that produces spoken narration and captions, and the watsonx powered AI Draw Analysis that uses structured and unstructured inputs from the IBM Power Index and Likelihood to Win to project player advantage or disadvantage. Foundation models were built, trained, and deployed within watsonx and tuned to the unique language of tennis to produce varied sentence structure and vocabulary, enabling automated production of detailed audio narration and daily updated draw analytics for every player in the singles draw.
The deployment ran on a hybrid cloud architecture enabled by Red Hat OpenShift and integrated into the USTA s flexible open hybrid cloud platform that powers USOpen.org and the US Open app. IBM iX, the experience design practice within IBM Consulting, worked directly with the USTA to operationalize model training and deployment on watsonx, and the AI features were integrated with existing digital features including the IBM Power Index and Match Insights to surface commentary and draw analysis alongside highlight video playback.
Governance and operational rollout were handled as a co-developed program between IBM teams and USTA digital leadership, with models trained on tennis specific language and content workflows designed to generate commentary for each match and update draw projections daily as the tournament progressed. The scope encompassed digital strategy, communications and marketing workflows that support fan engagement, and the production pipeline for video highlights across the tournament period from August 22 through September 10 2023.
The implementation was positioned to give fans a more insightful and engaging experience and to scale commentary and draw visualization across a global audience that the US Open reaches across its digital channels. IBM Watsonx AI Commentary and the watsonx powered AI Draw Analysis were added to the USTA s suite of analytics and fan features to deliver narrated highlights and daily draw projections across the entire singles draw.

In 2025, the United States Tennis Association deployed IBM watsonx BI to power AI-generated commentary, Match Insights and fan-facing analytics during the US Open in the United States. The initiative positioned IBM watsonx BI within an Analytics and BI environment to deliver real-time match analysis and generative commentary to spectators and event content teams.
The implementation centered on watsonx-driven capabilities for automated insight generation, narrative commentary and real-time dashboarding, pairing streaming event ingestion with low-latency analytics and visualization. IBM watsonx BI was configured to surface Match Insights through controlled natural-language generation and structured analytics, enabling content teams to produce AI-assisted summaries and live insight panels for fans.
Operational delivery ingested live match events and routed AI-generated outputs to fan-facing digital platforms while supporting live analysis workflows used by commentators and content editors. Governance included editorial review and approval workflows to manage generative outputs and ensure factual accuracy, and the rollout scope was focused on tournament operations, broadcast support and fan engagement functions during the US Open.
