In 2010 Urenco implemented SAP Business Suite as an ERP Financial platform to standardize purchasing and finance ahead of an upgrade to ERP 6.0. The deployment targeted harmonization across Urenco's five operating units and centralization of European accounts payable into a Financial Shared Services Centre in Almelo, Netherlands, with a mandate to define a single set of purchasing processes that met FSSC requirements while accommodating local statutory needs across four countries.
CSC delivered the global SAP Business Suite solution using the AcceleratedSAP ASAP methodology, configuring procure-to-pay and accounts payable workflows within the ERP Financial scope. Functional configurations included electronic requisitioning and approval workflows, supplier invoice processing, automatic three-way matching against goods received notes and service entry sheets, and user-facing ordering capability for goods and services. The implementation instrumented electronic approvals and invoice automation to reduce manual touchpoints and enforce consistent processing logic across sites.
Operational coverage centered on the European FSSC and Urenco’s European operations, which generate approximately 22,000 invoices annually, and extended to United States users who were brought onto the same standardized processes. Over 200 individuals were trained to order electronically, and invoices are matched and routed inside SAP Business Suite so the FSSC can execute payments or identify responsible parties for process hold-ups. This created a single ERP Financial processing flow for requisitioning, approval, and accounts payable execution.
Governance and rollout combined CSC-led ASAP methodology, a structured training program, and harmonized process governance to enable the transfer of accounts payable functionality to the Almelo FSSC. The new global purchasing processes removed paper-based requisitions and approvals, centralized financial processing for Europe within the SAP Business Suite instance, and established electronic requisition and invoice approval controls. Reported results include the successful transfer of accounts payable to the European FSSC, improved efficiency in handling the annual invoice volume, and broad adoption of electronic ordering and approvals.

In 2017 Urenco deployed SAP BusinessObjects as its enterprise reporting layer within an SAP-centric Analytics and BI footprint. The SAP BusinessObjects deployment was delivered into a multi-system landscape operated by the Urenco Group SAP team based at Capenhurst, Cheshire, United Kingdom, alongside ECC, BW, BPC, PI, Solution Manager 7.2, Content Server, Work Manager, Mobile Servers and Cloud Platform.
SAP BusinessObjects provided enterprise reporting, dashboarding and ad hoc analysis capabilities tightly integrated with BW and BPC for financial reporting flows, and with Content Server for report storage and distribution. The implementation aligned Analytics and BI workflows to standard scheduling, security and audit review processes, supporting financial audit and licensing controls under SAP Security and Audit Management.
Operational integration was explicit across third party systems, including financial posting engines, maintenance planning systems and treasury integrations, and it interfaced with wider IT programs such as a Service Now service desk implementation, a Unified Communications programme and a Windows 10 upgrade project. Operational responsibilities included incident and escalation management, coordination of BAU teams, patching and upgrades across OS, database and storage layers, capacity reviews and project service transitions.
Governance and commercial management were embedded in the rollout, with regular performance and service reviews with external providers, quotation negotiation and contract management for product support, and a complete on premise contract migration from SAP UK to SAP NL. The deployment positioned Urenco SAP BusinessObjects Analytics and BI to support Finance, Maintenance and Treasury business functions while centralizing reporting governance and integration with the broader SAP Programme.
