| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2021 | 2022 |
In 2021, Waternet implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its ERP Financial platform to centralize finance and tax operations. The Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations deployment serves as a central application chain for drinking water billing and water board tax processing, with specific teams accountable for drinking water, DSP, and two teams focused on Water Board Tax and tax collection for Waterschap Amstel, Gooi en Vecht.
The implementation includes core finance configurations and customizations covering creditors, debtors, logistics, planning and control, purchasing, and tax functionality. Workstreams include configuring customizations in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, performing data migration for financial master and transactional data, creating and executing automated test scripts, and translating business requirements into user stories for agile delivery.
Architecturally the program uses Microsoft cloud tooling for integrations and extensibility, with Logic Apps and Azure Function based integrations referenced alongside microservices design patterns and SQL based persistence. The Dynamics 365 F&O instance is treated as the central node in an application chain that connects to MECOMS for specific domain functionality, and technical ownership sits with an Architect Dynamics365 supported by DevOps oriented developer teams.
Governance and rollout follow an agile DevOps model with four scrum teams working on Dynamics 365, including a dedicated Taxes scrum team, regular collaboration between Tax Collection and related teams, and in person coordination two days per week at the Amsterdam head office. Delivery practices emphasize domain technical leadership, knowledge transfer through training and support for end users and key users, and continuous evaluation of business processes against the defined standard solution.

| IBM | Legacy | IBM Maximo | Enterprise Asset Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2022 | 2022 |
In 2022, Waternet implemented IBM Maximo for Enterprise Asset Management. IBM Maximo was deployed to consolidate asset and work management across Waternet, aligning the application to core maintenance and inspection workflows for municipal water infrastructure.
The implementation emphasized standard Enterprise Asset Management capabilities, including a centralized asset register, work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, spare parts and inventory control, mobile field enablement, and inspection and condition monitoring workflows. Configuration focused on lifecycle orchestration for work orders, role based access control for planners and field crews, and configurable preventive maintenance calendars to support recurring maintenance cycles.
The deployment was organized as a centralized Maximo instance supporting maintenance planners, field teams, and asset owners across Waternet's operational footprint in the Netherlands. The environment was configured for integration patterns with operational systems and for API driven data exchange, and governance centered on structured change control, role aligned workflow approvals, and ongoing application engineering support, evidenced by an IBM Maximo Application Engineer role at Waternet from November 2023.
