Alexir Packaging | Manufacturing | 122 | $30M | United Kingdom | Esko Graphics | ArtiosCAD | Computer-Aided Design (CAD) | 2016 | Esko |
In 2016, Alexir Packaging deployed ArtiosCAD as part of a Packaging design/structural CAD implementation delivered by Esko. The deployment was described as a full Esko solution set that introduced ArtiosCAD to automate the company’s structural and graphic design workflows.
The implementation focused on structural design and graphic workflow automation capabilities native to ArtiosCAD and the Esko toolset, standardizing carton and package structural authoring and streamlining graphic-to-structure handoffs. Configuration work emphasized template-driven structural models and automated file preparation to remove manual touchpoints in the design process.
Esko acted as the implementation partner for the rollout in the United Kingdom, executing system provisioning and configuration across Alexir Packaging’s design and production functions. Operational coverage targeted packaging design and production workflows, with the solution instrumented to replace repetitive manual steps and consolidate structural CAD activity within ArtiosCAD.
Governance changes included centralized workflow orchestration and updated handoff procedures between design and production teams, driven by the ArtiosCAD-led toolchain. Outcomes reported with the Esko solution set include a drastic reduction in manual intervention, an estimated 75 percent cut in overtime, and an increase in throughput following the 2016 installation of ArtiosCAD.

McLean Packaging | Manufacturing | 200 | $35M | United States | Esko Graphics | ArtiosCAD | Computer-Aided Design (CAD) | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018, McLean Packaging implemented ArtiosCAD to support Tooling Procurement/Structural Design Assistant workflows during a focused October 2018 to December 2018 engagement at the Moorestown, NJ facility. The deployment centered on using Esko ArtiosCAD for structural packaging design tasks tied directly to die procurement and pre-press support for the packaging manufacturing line.
The implementation leveraged ArtiosCAD to create die lines for a wide array of package layouts and to produce hand samples for customer review, aligning structural design outputs with stamping, embossing, and cutting die specifications. Functional activities captured in the engagement included assisting the die-cutting manager on die purchases, updating a master tooling spreadsheet in near real time, and preparing structural files and physical samples used by estimators and production planners.
Integrations and operational handoffs were explicit, with ArtiosCAD outputs routed into procurement workflows and purchase order creation through the NetScaler MAS ERP system. The scope of operational coverage included the pre-press structural design department, die-cutting management, and estimator teams, and extended to external die shop vendor interactions for quoting and delivery negotiation.
Governance and process changes were implemented at the task level, including daily tooling spreadsheet maintenance, attendance at art and estimator meetings to align tooling requirements, and formalized quote review and purchase order filing procedures. ArtiosCAD served as the structural design authoring system that fed tooling specifications into procurement and production planning processes without reference to a specific prior named system, consistent with the Tooling Procurement/Structural Design Assistant application context.

THIMM | Professional Services | 3376 | $714M | Germany | Esko Graphics | ArtiosCAD | Computer-Aided Design (CAD) | 2015 | Esko |
In 2015, THIMM implemented ArtiosCAD Enterprise, deploying Packaging development/structural CAD across its Thimm Verpackung organization in Germany. Esko conducted the implementation which had been planned earlier and went live in 2015 at 18 locations to modernize packaging development and standardize processes. The ArtiosCAD Enterprise deployment focused on structural CAD authoring capabilities, centralized template and tooling libraries, version control, and standardized design rules to produce consistent dielines and structural specifications. Configuration emphasized workflow standardization for packaging development to ensure reproducible design outputs and data quality across sites. A core integration linked ArtiosCAD Enterprise packaging master data to Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP to align packaging specifications with cost accounting in the enterprise system. Rollout and governance were managed by Esko across 18 locations, establishing packaging data governance and standardized development workflows to ensure consistent packaging information feeds into Microsoft Dynamics AX for cost accounting.
