CAE Inc. | Aerospace and Defense | 13000 | $4.2B | Canada | CAE | CAE Pelesys | Learning and Development | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018, CAE Inc. deployed CAE Pelesys as its Learning and Development application. The CAE Pelesys implementation focused on LMS administration and distance learning product development for aviation and business-jet pilot training and aircraft maintenance programs, reflecting instructional systems design inputs from CAE training teams. Functional capabilities implemented included course management, learner enrollment and records, eLearning content delivery, evaluation workflows and administrator controls to support both instructor-led and self-paced training, with configuration aligned to curriculum and competency requirements.
Integration work included operational interoperability with Captivate Prime to support eLearning content management and authoring asset exchange, enabling content import and learner tracking across systems. Operational coverage emphasized CAE training operations in the Montreal area and the learning organization, with Instructional Systems Designers administering CAE Pelesys and driving evaluation and curriculum development processes. Governance centered on centralized LMS administration, role-based access for training, maintenance and flight operations business functions, and established evaluation cycles for distance learning product development.

CAE USA | Aerospace and Defense | 3000 | $1.4B | United States | CAE | CAE Pelesys | Learning and Development | 2014 | n/a |
In 2014, CAE USA deployed CAE Pelesys as a core Training Scheduling capability within its Learning and Development portfolio. The CAE Pelesys Training Scheduling component was implemented to organize aviation-specific training footprints and curriculum, coordinating online learning, classroom instruction and simulation events for training operations.
The implementation configured schedule management for multiple inventory types including classrooms, FTDs and full flight simulators, and it included assessment and testing event scheduling. Functional modules implemented include inventory creation and management, dynamic role and permission setup, reusable course schedule templates, custom calendars and schedule snapshots, notification triggers and shared schedule visibility for users.
CAE Pelesys was integrated via a REST API to support connections with external systems, explicitly enabling links to Crew Rostering, Maintenance Planning and HR applications, and to external calendar services. The integration layer allowed Pelesys components to exchange scheduling and resource planning data with operational systems typical to aviation training operations.
Governance and operational support for CAE Pelesys included configuration of roles and permissions for administrators and schedulers, and a program of product training and customer support. Support modalities documented for the deployment included 24/7 call centre coverage, onsite and instructor led training for key users and system administrators, and online training sessions to sustain system usability and administration.

Western Global Airlines | Transportation | 360 | $427M | United States | CAE | CAE Pelesys | Learning and Development | 2023 | n/a |
In 2023 Western Global Airlines implemented CAE Pelesys as its Learning and Development application to centralize crew training administration and course issuance. The deployment placed responsibility with the Training Administrator to maintain crew training records, to populate the FAA Pilot Records Database with each pilot's dates of employment, duty assignments, and training records, and to enforce regulatory reporting cadence that requires at least four training records per line pilot per year reported within 30 days and at least eight training events for new hires within the first two months.
The CAE Pelesys implementation includes creation and management of computer based training courses using Articulate, enrollment workflows for new hire pilots, captain upgrade pilots, and recurrent line pilots, and the authoring and testing of assessments and training records. Course and assessment builds require multi-device testing, often several hours on the company provided iPad and desktop prior to production rollout, and ongoing revision processes to update content before courses are reused.
Operational coverage spans the Training Department including the Training Coordinator, Training Scheduler, line check pilots and sim check pilots, and the Training Administrator who creates and closes pilot profiles and conducts annual profile audits. The training program also embeds Flight Training Security Program enrollment and weekly management for foreign national pilots, and requires regular follow up on outstanding course completion; implementing CBT enrollment prior to proficiency checks increased course enrollment and completion auditing workload by an estimated 30 percent.
Governance was structured around ongoing audits and workload distribution, shifting training records audits from a single staff member taking a month to a model where the Training Coordinator and Training Scheduler share audits throughout the year to avoid concentrating effort. Training material creation and documented processes were introduced to provide continuity across new hire training, recurrent training, and when staff are absent, with CAE Pelesys used as the system of record for managing all previous and future courses within the Learning and Development program.
