Baltimore Gas and Electric | Utilities | 3400 | $3.3B | United States | CGI Group | CGI PragmaCAD | Workforce Management | 2004 | CGI |
In 2004, Baltimore Gas and Electric went live with CGI PragmaCAD as part of CGI's Mobile Workforce Management suite. The deployment targeted electric and gas field operations in the United States and centralized dispatch and field execution workflows under the Workforce Management application.
BGE implemented the PragmaCAD automated dispatch module integrated with BGE's work order systems to enable automated crew assignment and sequencing. The live configuration eliminated paper work-orders and enabled real-time status updates from mobile crews into central operations, supporting electronic work-order handling and consolidated reporting. The implementation leveraged mobile workforce capabilities for in-field status capture, crew routing, and event-driven updates to job status and completion.
The solution architecture connected a central dispatch engine and operational database to field mobile clients through real-time synchronization, with bidirectional integration into BGE's enterprise work order systems to maintain order state and history. CGI served as the systems integrator and provider, deploying CGI PragmaCAD alongside its Mobile Workforce Management suite to operate within BGE's operational technology landscape.
Rollout emphasis was on dispatch centers and field crews, standardizing dispatch workflows and shifting execution from paper to electronic processes. Explicit outcomes from the live system included real-time status updates, elimination of paper work-orders, and improved responsiveness and reporting across field crews.
