In 2017, SpartanNash launched its in-house Fast Lane eCommerce platform to provide online grocery ordering, click-and-collect and delivery across its retail banners in the United States. Fast Lane eCommerce was developed in partnership with Unata and focused on enabling digital sales and store-based fulfillment workflows. The implementation centralized core eCommerce capabilities including online order capture, customer storefront configuration, click-and-collect scheduling and fulfillment orchestration for home delivery and store pickup. The Fast Lane eCommerce application was configured to manage the order lifecycle and fulfillment staging, enabling coordinated pick, pack and store handoff processes. SpartanNash retained in-house ownership and operational control of Fast Lane eCommerce, operating the platform across its U.S. retail banners and aligning digital order processing with store operations and supply chain teams. The development partnership with Unata supported platform delivery while SpartanNash managed operationalization and scaling. In 2021 SpartanNash opened a 55,000 square foot micro fulfillment center to scale Fast Lane orders to more than 1,000 daily and improve fulfillment efficiency. Governance remained centralized under SpartanNash operations, and the micro fulfillment center provided a dedicated fulfillment footprint to support higher daily volumes and more consistent store level fulfillment workflows.
