Cytiva United States | Life Sciences | 4000 | $1.5B | United States | Genetec | Genetec Omnicast | Video Surveillance System | 2021 | Johnson Controls |
In 2021, Cytiva implemented Genetec Omnicast as part of a broader deployment of Genetec Security Center, using Genetec Omnicast as a Video Surveillance System to manage site-level camera recording and retention. The deployment targeted multiple critical research and manufacturing sites across the Americas and a global footprint with primary coordination in the United States, aligning physical security and access workflows across research and production functions.
The implementation configured Omnicast to manage local video storage at individual sites while Genetec Security Center provided centralized monitoring, event correlation, and policy orchestration. Functional capabilities implemented included camera management, localized recording retention, centralized incident search, and integration points for identity driven access workflows using ClearID for PIAM to standardize access provisioning.
Johnson Controls served as the implementation partner coordinating rollout activities, system configuration, and site commissioning. Integrations explicitly included ClearID for privileged identity and access management to align badge and credential workflows with video events, creating federated security operations across sites.
Governance and operational changes focused on standardizing access provisioning and unifying security operations procedures across affected departments and sites. The rollout produced reported outcomes including an approximately 30 percent efficiency gain in access provisioning and simplified, federated security operations, as stated in the implementation summary.

Seattle City Light | Government | 14000 | $8.5B | United States | Genetec | Genetec Omnicast | Video Surveillance System | 2022 | n/a |
In 2022, Seattle City Light migrated to Genetec Omnicast as its Video Surveillance System. The project replaced the existing Verint EdgeVMS v6.3 deployment, which was end of life and dependent on Windows 7, with Genetec Omnicast to address security responsiveness and modern platform support.
The implementation required migrating both client and server applications, performing full server replacement of storage and master servers, and replacing client workstations. The Genetec Omnicast deployment emphasized enhanced and flexible video analytics and a modern user interface, improving monitoring workflows and situational awareness for security staff.
Active Directory integration was implemented to provide single sign on and to align access control with enterprise identities. Operational scope focused on Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection within Seattle City Light, with the Video Surveillance System supporting monitoring for employee safety and utility facility protection.
Deployment followed the Seattle IT Surveillance Technology Criteria Review and was recorded under SCL Case No. 3000, driving a controlled cutover from Verint EdgeVMS to Genetec Omnicast. The migration was intended to increase the efficacy of security officers through improved analytics and UI and to eliminate the operational risks associated with running end of life software.
