Yes Bank Banking and Financial Services 28000 $1.8B India In-House Applications In-House Analytics and BI Analytics and BI 2012 n/a
In 2012 Yes Bank developed an In-House Analytics and BI application called Kaleidoscope. Surendra Shetty, Chief Technology Officer, Banking Solutions and Group Executive Vice President, YES BANK, was mandated to lead the program after his team found commercial BI products unaffordable, a gap that drove creation of a zero cost in-house solution. Kaleidoscope was delivered as an In-House Analytics and BI platform to address the bank's lack of a dedicated business intelligence solution. Implementation concentrated on core Analytics and BI functional modules, including data extraction and transformation workflows, a centralized analytical data repository, interactive dashboards, scheduled reporting, ad hoc query capabilities, and metadata management to support governed reporting and consistent analytics. Deployment followed an in-house infrastructure model under the bank managed Applications approach, using a layered architecture that separated data ingestion, storage, and presentation tiers. The architecture emphasized modularity to allow incremental addition of analytic domains and to support self service reporting for business functions, aligning with typical enterprise analytics patterns. Program governance remained with the CTO office and the project team that evaluated market alternatives, and governance activities included establishment of standardized reporting processes and operational controls to remedy the prior absence of a dedicated BI capability. The implemented In-House Analytics and BI application Kaleidoscope was positioned as a zero cost internal platform for consolidated reporting and analytics across the bank.
