In 2019 Skywater Technology implemented INFICON FabGuard as a factory data collection and control platform. The deployment covered 200 process tools and aligns with Product Lifecycle Management, with a focus on inline process monitoring and control across semiconductor manufacturing functions.
Configuration work centered on FabGuard FDC capabilities and sampling enforcement using Inficon Metrology Sampling Optimizer MSO to implement sampling rules and rates. The project included hardware configuration of external sensors and designated PCs, procurement and deployment of new physical infrastructure, and synchronization of the FabGuard database with the FabGuard Web and client software to support real time data capture and client access.
Operational integrations tied FabGuard data into yield and product measurement systems and into JMP for further big data analysis to drive yield improvements. FabGuard was incorporated into the site factory automation system architecture to run in parallel with other floor software, supporting inline process control for Diffusion, Implant, CMP, Dry and Wet Etch, Lithography, Films including Chemical and Physical Vapor Deposition, and Metals.
