In 2020, Biogen implemented Model N CPQ as a Configure Price Quote (CPQ) solution to support Global Pricing in MA&R and the Value and Access organization. The implementation was scoped to Pricing and Payer Access Solutions teams responsible for pricing strategy, payer access, reimbursements, launch sequencing, tender handling, and price governance.
Model N CPQ was configured to standardize pricing rules, payer segmentation, tender management, quote generation, and multilevel approval workflows. Functional capabilities documented during the engagement included corridor analysis, price erosion tracking, launch sequence orchestration, reimbursement configuration, and the incorporation of AI-assisted pricing analytics for pricing scenario evaluation.
The deployment was integrated with Biogen commercial systems and operational feeds, including Veeva CRM for quote orchestration, Veeva Vault for contract and regulatory artifact storage, and Salesforce for commercial data synchronization. The implementation also connected to existing pricing tooling referenced in project notes such as PriceRight, PriCentric and Navlin, and consumed tender data and logistics and supply chain inputs to align pricing and availability. Governance controls emphasized role based access, structured approval workflows, and SOX relevant controls to enforce price change authorization and auditability.

In 2010, NXP Semiconductors selected Model N CPQ as its Configure Price Quote (CPQ) application to support a coordinated sales, pricing and channel IT program. The selection of Model N revenue management occurred in September 2010 alongside a SalesForce.com CRM decision in March 2010, with Salesforce going live in September 2010 and Model N revenue management entering regional production over 2011 and 2012.
The Model N CPQ deployment focused on quoting, pricing and channel revenue management modules, implemented to manage Distributor, OEM and EMS channels in high tech. Functional coverage described in program materials included quoting and pricing workflows, channel management, sales incentives, customer service touch points and aspects of web presence, aligning CPQ configuration with broader sales and pricing process requirements.
Deployment followed a phased, regional rollout, with Model N revenue management going live in Europe in October 2011, in Asia in July 2012 and in the Americas in October 2012. The implementation was positioned as a global system for Sales and Marketing and Channel Management, indicating centralized application configuration with regional go live sequencing and operational handover per geography.
Program governance was led by the Director Strategic Programs who managed the end to end program for the EVP Sales and Marketing, defining vision, developing the project roadmap, selecting software and overseeing global implementation and post go live operations. Accountability included both business and IT, with program level ownership of rollout sequencing, configuration decisions and ongoing operations for Model N CPQ within NXP Semiconductors.
