In 2023, Inim Electronics implemented Modula Lift in a Warehouse Management deployment to address persistent warehouse inefficiencies across its electronic and software products operations. The initiative focused on production support and the electronic boards department at the company, reorganizing storage to support new production lines and equipment additions.
Deployment comprised six Modula vertical lift modules, specifically four Modula Slim units in the electronic boards department and two Modula Lift MXs for electronic components, assembled boards and test materials. The Modula VLMs and Modula Lift tray systems, equipped with ESD protection, now house over 70,000 packages and more than 1,000 unique items, consolidating inventory into high-density automated vertical storage.
Modula’s Warehouse Management System was configured for barcode-driven picking and FIFO retrieval, with operators scanning products using industrial scanners and the WMS commanding tray retrieval from the correct compartment. The WMS integrates with Inim Electronics ERP to extend inventory control into production workflows, creating a linked process for automated storage retrieval and order or production picks.
Documented operational effects include a 65% reduction in floor space previously occupied by conventional shelving, enabling a re-layout that accommodated additional production lines and equipment. Workflows became faster, ergonomically safer and error-free, with delicate electronic components stored in dust-free, electrically protected trays that reduce handling risk.
