Iowa State University of Science and Technology | Education | 5800 | $1.1B | United States | Nemetschek Group | Nemetschek dTwin | Building Information Modeling | 2025 | n/a |
In 2025, Iowa State University of Science and Technology is piloting Nemetschek dTwin to create a dynamic and interactive build environment. The pilot uses digital twins of each planned structure with dashboard visualizations for monitoring and data analysis, leveraging Nemetschek dTwin as a Building Information Modeling platform to support facilities planning and construction visualization.
The implementation concentrates on digital twin modeling, sensor telemetry ingestion, real time monitoring dashboards, and 3D model visualization. Configuration work includes linking 3D assets to live sensor feeds and time series data for air quality and energy consumption, and establishing data analysis workflows and visualization layers inside Nemetschek dTwin.
Operational scope is currently a campus pilot centered on the construction of a 3D printed shed instrumented with live sensors, the shed providing real time data about air quality and energy consumption. The project will progress with the shed construction, using the build stage as a testbed for sensor calibration, data routing, and validation of the digital twin against physical conditions.
Governance emphasis is on staged pilot controls, model version management, sensor data governance, and delivery of stakeholder dashboards for facilities and research teams. Rollout planning centers on iterative validation of sensor feeds and dashboard visualizations within Nemetschek dTwin before any broader campus adoption.

UMEX | Transportation | 416 | $50M | Romania | Nemetschek Group | Nemetschek dTwin | Building Information Modeling | 2025 | n/a |
In 2025, UMEX deployed the Nemetschek dTwin platform as its Building Information Modeling solution to centralize operational visibility for its Constanța port operations. The implementation targeted UMEX’s five berths, storage areas, warehouses and open yards that handle bulk, liquid, bagged and general cargo, creating a digital replica of the physical terminal to monitor ship unloading and yard activity in context.
The Nemetschek dTwin implementation combined the existing BIM models with cloud-based 3D visualization, real-time telemetry and analytics capabilities. Functional modules implemented include 3D model visualization of berths and cranes, integration of building structural and energy consumption data, heat map visualizations for anomalies and deviations, and simulation and optimization workflows for loading efficiency, productivity and warehouse utilization.
Data integrations aggregated on the dTwin platform included BIM models, panoramic imagery and IoT sensor feeds, producing a single source of truth for on-site and remote stakeholders. The solution was introduced in cooperation with Nemetschek partner ALLBIM.NET and the dTwin product team, and it remains extensible to additional sensors and equipment such as state-of-the-art port cranes as UMEX scales the platform to other terminals.
Rollout and governance followed a rapid pilot and refinement cadence, an operational digital twin was provisioned within one week leveraging existing BIM and IoT assets, with platform adjustments and fine-tuning completed over two months in close collaboration between UMEX and the dTwin team. Operational governance centralized real-time KPIs for management and department-level users, enabling standardized monitoring of handling volumes, personnel and equipment status, and making running cost visibility part of routine operational decision making.
Reported outcomes explicitly include sustainably increased energy efficiency and productivity, and improved customer-facing tariff and solution optimization through near real-time analysis of running costs. The Nemetschek dTwin Building Information Modeling deployment therefore positions UMEX to orchestrate port operations with a unified digital twin that connects BIM, live systems and operational analytics.
