Allianz Malaysia | Insurance | 1907 | $1.2B | Malaysia | Oracle | Oracle Application Express (APEX) | Apps Development | 2021 | n/a |
In 2021 Allianz Malaysia implemented Oracle Application Express (APEX) for Apps Development to support Life Core Insurance operations and enterprise transactional workloads. The deployment centered on Oracle Application Express (APEX) running against Oracle Database 18c or above within an Oracle server environment, providing a database centric platform for rapid application delivery and operational reporting.
Implementation workstreams focused on APEX application pages and PL/SQL business logic, leveraging Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports expertise to reproduce transaction and reporting workflows using APEX 18.0 and above, HTML5, CSS and JavaScript for cross browser compatibility, and Unix shell scripting for automated deployments. Development standards emphasized reusable PL/SQL packages and shared code libraries to support high volume transactional processing and cross platform code reuse.
Integration patterns were constructed around database integrated services and API oriented connectivity for end to end system integration with core insurance processing systems and back office functions, with runtime and deployment troubleshooting performed on Oracle servers. Operational coverage included development, test and production environments and involved IT application support teams alongside Life Core Insurance business users in Malaysia.
Governance and operational disciplines required senior technical ownership for code review and mentoring of junior developers, stringent application security controls implemented without third party software, and hands on troubleshooting of deployment and server level issues. The implementation emphasized secure application integration, formal code review processes, and platform familiarity with Oracle Database 18c or above as prerequisites for sustaining the Apps Development footprint.

ArrowXL | Transportation | 1304 | $147M | United Kingdom | Oracle | Oracle Application Express (APEX) | Apps Development | 2018 | n/a |
In 2018, ArrowXL implemented Oracle Application Express (APEX) as its primary development platform to build operational applications under the Apps Development category. The initiative focused on delivering a new suite of business tools and reports to provide real time tracking and up to the minute order status for transportation operations and client reporting.
The implementation delivered bespoke Oracle Application Express (APEX) applications for order tracking, throughput and system failure monitoring, and redevelopment of planning and tracking systems. Development work included an in house Data Warehouse built with ETL technologies and report production using Qlikview and Nprint, supporting operational reporting and management dashboards.
Integration architecture centered on device and logistics system interoperability, with APEX interfaces to Android handheld terminals, Oracle Order Management and Red Prairie logistics systems. Manifest data was formatted for in cab TomTom navigation systems and web based tracking systems were used to expose vehicle location and expected delivery times to customers. The team created REST and SOAP APIs and orchestrated client integrations through Boomi webservices, moving integration interfaces away from database links and Oracle Fusion webservices and transforming batch client interfaces into API driven flows.
Operational scope covered delivery operations, customer service and client reporting workflows, with governance led by a development team of three under a senior systems developer and development team leader. Outcomes reported included real time operational visibility and enhanced client reporting, enabling the business to monitor and react to issues on road operations more quickly and in many cases before issues escalated.

Avail Infrastructure Solutions | Manufacturing | 2002 | $600M | United States | Oracle | Oracle Application Express (APEX) | Apps Development | 2022 | n/a |
In 2022, Avail Infrastructure Solutions implemented Oracle Application Express (APEX) as part of a coordinated enterprise Apps Development deployment. The APEX implementation was delivered alongside Oracle E-Business Suite and Splash BI during a divestiture from the parent company, aligning application footprint expansion with modern infrastructure choices.
The implementation used Oracle Application Express (APEX) with Oracle Application DMZ modules to expose controlled public facing services, and included formal penetration testing and the design of disaster recovery across OCI Ashburn and Phoenix regions. Oracle Physical Standby database replication was used to replicate production databases to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and Rackware was leveraged to replicate operating system images for Oracle EBS, APEX, and Splash BI to preserve application and OS state during the migration.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provided the target infrastructure, and connectivity was established between Avail Corporate and AZZ on premise datacenters and OCI Ashburn and Phoenix regions using FastConnect over MegaPort. Apps Associates served as the cloud infrastructure hosting and managed services partner, responsible for provisioning OCI resources and coordinating the cloud network and replication tooling.
The program was executed in a compressed two month Phase 1 due to competing business priorities, with Phase 1 covering EBS, APEX, and Splash BI and Phase 2 scoped for Oracle Enterprise Manager and full disaster recovery. The delivery included one non production iteration on TEST infrastructure, one dry run on the future production footprint, and construction of two non production environments for EBS, Splash BI, and APEX prior to production cutover.
Apps Associates completed the enterprise workload deployment and migration to OCI on schedule, with the Phase 1 environments going live on May 22nd, 2023. Governance activities documented in the rollout included staged test and dry run cycles, penetration testing for the DMZ modules, and implementation of Oracle Physical Standby and Rackware replication to support operational continuity.
