In 2019 the Government of Uganda engaged PeoplesHR to deploy PeoplesHR Payroll as part of a government-wide Human Capital Management programme. The initiative targeted automation of payroll and pension processing for the public service, covering approximately 350,000 active employees and 70,000 retirees, with Payroll as the central Apps Category for the rollout.
The PeoplesHR Payroll implementation was configured to deliver centralized payroll processing, pensions automation, and enhanced HR analytics capabilities. Functional configuration emphasized core payroll calculation, pension computation, statutory deductions, payroll reconciliation, and consolidated reporting and audit trails consistent with public sector payroll requirements.
Delivery was executed via a joint venture of local partners with system integration support from Bigscreen Handels, and it covered HR and payroll pensions operations across ministries and agencies in Uganda. The technical architecture centralized payroll and pension records into a government-wide instance to standardize payroll workflows and reporting across the public service.
