In 2018 BJ's Restaurants implemented QSR ConnectSmart Kitchen as part of its Restaurant Management technology stack to centralize kitchen operations and order routing. QSR ConnectSmart Kitchen was positioned to support kitchen display workflows and back of house execution while integrating with front of house systems to streamline order flow and service coordination.
The deployment emphasized KDS centric configuration, including configurable ticket routing, order staging and priority escalation typical of Restaurant Management platforms. Implementation work included module configuration for real time order display, kitchen ticket lifecycle management, and operational parameter tuning to align with BJ's Restaurants kitchen workflows.
Integrations were explicitly built with POSitouch point of sale and QSR Automation table management and kitchen display components, enabling end to end order handoff from POSitouch to QSR ConnectSmart Kitchen and synchronization with table management states. Operational tooling and platform support leveraged Windows 7 through 10 client environments and Windows Server imaging for device provisioning and maintenance, reflecting the operating environment described by BJ's Restaurants systems staff.
Governance and rollout were handled through an internal restaurant systems function that managed assessment, staged upgrades, testing and field support. In 2010, Jk & T Wings implemented QSR ConnectSmart Kitchen, a Restaurant Management application. The deployment connected QSR ConnectSmart Kitchen to the restaurant group’s Aloha POS environment and Aloha Kitchen instances across 93 locations, operating under a hybrid architecture with central home office administration and store level POS hardware and support. QSR ConnectSmart Kitchen was managed alongside existing back office tools, with in house administration overseeing configuration and day to day operations.
Implementation focused on kitchen display and order routing capabilities within QSR ConnectSmart Kitchen, centralized user and security role provisioning via Aloha Insight, and unified store settings management across sites. Database administration and configuration work included creation and administration of an NBO/Menulink database for a sister concept and ongoing Aspect Back Office and Ctuit administration tasks. The deployment emphasized application configuration, role based access control, and operational orchestration of kitchen workflows and POS order flows.
Governance was led by the VP and Director of IT who maintained Aloha POS administration responsibilities and held QSR Automations certification, providing 24/7 store level hardware and software support and home office escalation. Operational support included management of multi third party vendor systems for PCI compliance and scanning, engagement with managed service providers for MSP level support, and Tier 2 and Tier 3 store support processes. Rollout and ongoing management remained in house, with the IT team administering user security, store settings and vendor coordination across the Restaurant Management stack.
